There are always two sides to a coin. You can either agree
that Sachin is a legend or you can say that Sachin’s stats are better compared
to the team wins.
I prefer the former not because I am a diehard fan of Sachin
Tendulkar but because I have always thoroughly enjoyed watching him play. And today marks the beginning of the end to
his long arduous journey – 200th test match. So for people like me,
who still follow the test match format and are used to seeing Sachin the
line-up, will have to digest the fact that there won’t be Sachin. Mind you, India
played around 220 odd test matches during the period 1989-2013. All
those Sachin critics – I don’t believe if you say you haven’t enjoyed those
moments when he danced down the pitch to hit a six or when he swept for a four
irrespetive of the end result. Grow-up at least as you can no longer blame
Sachin for India's loss.
I still remember the evening I was engaged in playing
Cricket. Someone following a live game came up to us and mentioned about this new kid on the block and that he was hitting Abdul Qadir
all over the ground for sixes and fours. That was one of my first memories of the little master.
I can never forget India's tour of Australia in 1992. Those were the days when I 'd sneak from my Dad (who was a big fan of cricket himself) and would watch TV in the wee hours of the mornings just to see Sachin play.
Sachin frenzy started back then and cannot believe it will soon come to an end.
All good things come to an end and let the that end be a fitting
farewell to Sachin. As they say – “Gods Never Retire!!!”
